I genuinely think you made the right decision... Because even if it might have seemed acceptable from a merchandising and lucrative point of view... could you wake up every morning, thinking that thousands of people store your half-naked pictures in a chest of drawers? It is great to see that some individuals refuse to give in to the fake&naked cult and remain themselves. Simone de Beauvoir must be smiling in her grave :)

I've just finished watching your documentary. Having seen the title, I thought it would be normal rubbish television, but was surprised to find a thoughtful, interesting and honest documentary! You'll do really well at whatever you put your hand to ... you're obviously talented and have a really natural way about you. Best of luck for the future and well done for being intelligent but still fun and sexy. By the way ... have you actually READ what's in those mens magazines?!! Best not to go there, whatever, I reckon! Talk about stone age man!? xx By the way I've NEVER left a comment about anything I've watched before! Just shows how you can reach some people in a way that a bare pair of boobs never would!

Just finished watching and I'm really glad you decided not to strip off after all. You're an extremely attractive, funny and warm person - it shouldn't be necessary to use sex to get ahead when you have so many good qualities.

Ive just watched your documentary on bbc3 and loved it! You came across as a lovely down to earth likeable girl and although Im gay you were more attractive than I remember you, a naturally pretty girl. I say go with the stand up and down that comedy route, maybe even comedy gameshows such as Never mind the Buzzcocks and Have I got News for you. Good Luck Nx

why do you have to go topless? I think you would be good but I think you should do more comedy, maybe go on mock the week because in your documentary you seemed to be the type of person to have a laugh and I think you will be more successful doing something you are naturally talented in rather than getting you kit off for a pervy mag.

Hello Kirsten! During your documentary I was genuinely appalled and angered at what the so called "lad's mag" bosses were saying, that you were "borderline" and that you were only worth going to the pub with. When Smart first came out (I'm 20 now) you were one of my major celebrity crushes, and hearing those people say those things genuinely hurt me. You don't need to search the net for more than five minutes to find countless people describing you as "gorgeous," "sexy," "amazing" etc etc... it sort of proves how the whole lads mag industry works, its done on one persons opinion. Basically, all I'm trying to say is that, although I'm sure it doesn't mean much to you either way, you are one of the most gorgeous, natural looking celebrities out there, and any man in the world would be beyong lucky to be with you.

All my love, Shaun

ps men WOULD **** over you. Definitely. ;p

Great programme and very brave of you to make it. I'm really glad you kept your clothes on because I would really like to see them off!

I have 2 great kids and no surprise I've become a Smart addict over the years and for the record the art is quite good as well.

I've just watched your topless ambition programme on iPlayer and I have to tell you that I'm so glad that you didn't take the step and do the photo shoot.

The program, was a brilliant piece of TV and I think showed the world that there is so much more to Kirsten O'Brien.

You displayed so many attributes that I could list here but would run out of space, the most important thing is you seem completely genuine and because of that your sexyness shines out.

You are a gorgeously sexy woman and have a talent for kids TV and now have shown you can make brilliant grown up telly too, as well as make us laugh through your stand up.

I wish you bucket loads of success in your career and hope to see you doing lots more stuff just like this - Well done.

I would like to see your stand up live, would you be able to email your dates and venues please?

I have just watched your Topless Ambition show on BBC iplayer. I have never made comments about something I have watched but felt that I wanted to with yours. I thought your show was intelligent, witty, honest, open and very interesting. You came across really well and Im sure that this will have a positive affect on your career. I really hope that you will make more programmes in the future! I am in my late 20's and was moved by a lot of the issues mentioned. I thought that the show would have ended with you in hair extensions, fake tan and spread across the pages of a lads mag and I wouldn't have seen a problem with that however I was left on a high when you didn't! It makes a lovely change from the normal shows we see on tv now and I hope that you will make more intelligent docs like this in the future.

Thank you for this great documentary!

As l said on Facebook you have all that it takes to be a star. Be happy in knowing that a great many people see you as being an honest, hardworking happy lady who brings a lot of pleasure to people young and old without removing the clothes for people. As l understand it you have a supportive partner and a lot of fans, inc me. Enjoy what you have got but if you have dreams for more l really hope they come true for you.

Kirsten, my wife and I watched the show while visiting Paris last week. I don't normally write on blogs like this but you really moved me with your honesty. You're a lovely gal and I'm sure had you been given the chance, would have made a fantastic photo subject. As much as I would enjoy seeing you in the buff, I have to agree with other here that you don't need to do that. Looks to me like you have more than enough talent and looks so as not to need to strip for more attention. You are a real sweet heart. If you ever want to come visit a country town in the U.S., my wife and I would be happy to have you as a guest.

Best Wishes,

Just came in from my warrington gig and watched your doc.... very very very good....!!!!!
certainly you have raised a very interesting point and I enjoyed the program very much...

Your pal on the pebble beach was SPOT ON!
good luck in your amazingly, adventursome life.
From one 'unsexy to the world' woman, who managed really well to have a fantastically, emotionally connected and BRILLIANT career / life, to another (yours is going to always be fantastic.. and isnt it a real blessing that you dont have to rely on making stranger's willies hard to have a career???

I said that once when I started singing... I dont sing to do the above.

xxxxxx life is a gas xxxx
you are a great person to watch and all will be well.

Just wanted to say i saw your documentary, and I never ever normally blog about anything but I just wanted to say 'love the show'. I guess I saw parallels with my own world. I am 34, and have had friends who do 'sexy' very well, feature in lads mags, date/marry footballers, etc etc and yes they look fantastic.

I am more like you. Fantastically refreshingly normal. Can wear high heels, but more comfortable in flats. Sometimes I wonder whether I should have taken a similar route to them, but when I look around, life is good - and I have never had to compromise myself or values and like you, when the opportunity came up I realised that wasn't what I really wanted.

If I am honest, I hadn't heard of you before (I'm too old to have watched cbbc by the time you would have been working there!). BUT, I thought you were an honest and open presenter - without feeling the need to play the roles of the now cliche Divina, Miquita, whoever role. You compared yourself with Angelica (lovely but now we see her on every dull reality show) and I thought you drew circles around her as a presenter. The lads mags/reality show do act as a catalyst, but also can come across as desperate. There are several others who do the lads mags/reality tv (even winnning them) but nothing ever happens career wise.

You are fantastic. Do YOU, don't follow what everyone else does, or what the standard route is. Work out what you want to do, and create your own journey to get there and you will...

Hi Kirsten, I've just seen the documentary and it made me really want to say something, especially about what the lads mag guys said. The FHM guy said you could either be sexy, a girlfriend, OR a drinking buddy- but from the documentary you seem all three. I remember seeing you on SMart and thinking you were just fantastic, and I was really surprised upon seeing the documentary title that you'd feel the need to get your baps out to further your career. I read an interesting book lately which talked about the perception of how 'female liberation' including topless shoots and pole dancing aren't exploitative but sexy and freeing; and how that's untrue because it's all about looking like you're enjoying the sex, while still looking attractive to other people, and not actually feeling sexy in yourself. For example, you looked like you were having fun trying on bikinis with your own boyfriend (who looks like he thinks you're amazing, by the way) and with peter stringfellow you were laughing and having a joke because you felt uncomfortable. I used to be a barmaid in a strip club, and I got hit on more than the strippers whilst fully clothed because I was confident and not trying to look like I wanted people to find me attractive.
The second agent, as well, was horrible! I can't even believe what he was saying about you needing to splash your private life and compromise- even swap- your integrity for new 'grown-up' jobs. It's men like that (isn't it funny how it's always the men in charge saying these things) that are causing the problems that you've faced, and making amazing strong people like you doubt that their personality and talent is enough to help them be successful without stripping off.
I think you came across so well, confident and funny and gorgeous, and really down-to-earth, and I'm so glad you decided not to in the end. Best of luck with everything in the future, please come to High Wycombe with the comedy, it'd be amazing to see you doing stand-up! x

Dear Kirsten you are a young intelligent presenter with a modern approach firmly standing on the ground. So what that majority of the (no brain) public wants to see a boobie girls presenting news in FHM SUN etc and get paid loads. Do something that you feel good and proud about. Keep on good work and do not let them change you.

Hey Lady, Have just watch the documentary, honestly cause i thought you'd get them out, but after 5 minutes i forgot about that. At the end of the documentary i was left thinking that a the stunning northern bird from years ago that i had a crush on! was still the same person great personality & still great looking! Matbe you didn't make the cover of FHM or are working on "Strictly Shite Dancing" but you seem grounded with good friends & family, dont worry quality always rises to the top!! hopw to see you soon on tv or at a comefy club!!

Seen your documentary twice now...very good... in fact.. shows you very, very good on you....at last, a female celeb with a brain in her head...too easy is it to show off assets to get on instead of using their head and talent. Yep.. it is nice to see pretty ladies with not a lot on... but its also nice to listen to a pretty lady with a brain who can talk about something.. that my friend is you!... so go on.. push forward with whatever you want to do.... and all the success for you in the future...PS.. our little one loves watching the SMart series still and copies all your pics. Rant over

Kirsten, I don't think I've ever watched a TV documentary that made me feel so strongly! I felt for you throughout that programme and it made me really want to write something to you.

I'm 23 and I have an 18 year old sister called Rosie. We both grew up watching you on our screens in CBBC and Smart and thought you were great! You always came across as a very genuine, funny person and that's why so many young people found you so easy to relate to.

It was hard to watch the magazine men upsetting you as you're too lovely to be degraded by people like that. I was so glad that you decided to concentrate on your stand up-as you're very good at what you do! I'm sure you'll be very sucessful and it will feel even better as you've been true to yourself.

I wish you all the best for the future, keep smiling, Jess x
