Thank you for making that documentary and showing us the unattractive men behind the lads mags (Beer Gut Monthly, anyone?).....I wondered while watching if you were planning a photoshoot covered in paint or clay.......but shouldn't you look beyond the glossies for inspiration?
Ten years ago I was stuck at home with small children and very grateful for Art on children's TV(!) we all need a role model with creative skills. TV is dumbing down & saving money etc, but needs fewer airheads. Consider Joan Bakewell, Muriel Gray, Dr Greer as possible women to follow.
Who'll replace Melvyn B to bring culture to the masses, hmmm?

Great show, Kirsten - hadn't heard of you before but you seem like a lovely person and I really admire your morals. Thought the best bit was that you really came to realise what you were - funny, entertaining, kooky, cool - and that it wasn't right to try and squeeze yourself into trying to be what you're not. I think it's awesome to truly know what you're made up of, what appeals to you, and what doesn't. A lesson for us all. Or, more particularly, a lesson for me, right now - I think your show might have just helped me make a really important decision!

Thank you for an interesting, entertaining and thought provoking programme. I believe that in any career you should never do anything that you feel uncomfortable doing and the impression I got was that you were not happy with the idea of doing the photo shoot. Sometimes we have to have the courage to say that somethings are just not for us, regardless of how others view them. You are you and no one else. I know you are beautiful and sexy because I have met you, we used to work in the same building a few years ago. I look forward to seeing you on our tv screens for many years to come. As always my fondest regards.

Watching Anjelica Bell talking about how much she loved herself was nearly enough to make me vomit. You're better than them all, they can't match you.

How about taking your career in a similar directon to Michaela Strachan i.e. she did wildlife as a childrens presenter and continued doing it as an adult presenter. Couldn't you do some main stream art programme like Rolf on Art? and sort of evolve your career that way. So you could become a combination of Michaela Strachan and Rolf Harris...

I was so relived at watching the program the other night. You were totaly right to have pricipals and stick to them and not follow the crowd by taking your clothes off.this program showes that YOU do not need to go down that path and i for one hope you do progress in your carer and show the others that tallent and principles are the way to go. With your tallent the right show will come along.we need more people like you on main stream tv with principles that they stick to . by the way you are a natural sexy woman and no need to show it off in that way. the lads mags "ladys" will be here today gone tomorrow but i think your here to stay.

Thanks for a great documentary. I hope the BBC commission you do do many more! You can inject cutting humour exactly when needed - i.e in the office of 'Front' !! You are far too intelligent for those idiots.
I want to say thanks on behalf of my daughter and son, aged 8 and 10, who love both Smart and Big Toe Books, for being a great presenter and not taking your clothes off! (I hasten to say they did not watch your documentary.)
My mum committed suicide when I was 21yrs old, it's sometimes difficult having to make huge decisions in life without a mother's guidance. You have shown great courage and these stupid mens mags blokes are completely clueless.

Judging by the amount of men who have posted on this site I think that it's fair to say that you're one extremely sought after lady! I thought you show was awesome and will surely give you all the career boost you need without having to get your clothes off. The women who do that do look beautiful and I'd personally see it as quite empowering, but it's not everyone's of that opinion.
The fact that you decided not to do it partly in reflection of your younger audience is extremely commendably. If you did decide to do it later on though you would definitely make a lot of men happy as well!
You really are an inspiration and I really hope to see you on more adult shows in the future. Congratulations on being not only a great presenter and very funny lady, but also of having such an attractive body that would certainly be worthy of gracing lads mag pages! Good luck in whatever is next in store for you, I personally can't wait to see it!

Kirsten,
Watched your show, Naked Ambition last night, it was a thoroughly interesting and entertaining piece.
Fair play to you for sticking with your talents rather than getting your ahem talents out in order to drum up interest like so many others.
I hope you get the work you so clearly deserve.
Thank you for a thoughtful and entertaining show and good luck for the future.

Kirsten, I've just watched your documentary and I would like to add my own comments. First of all, I wouldn't take Peter Stringfellow's comments too seriously, he clearly doesn't know what he's talking about. This is a man who thinks he's sexy, for heavens sake. You can be sexy AND funny. I thought it must have taken a lot of courage to even consider posing for a lad's mag as it was clear from the programme that this is not your natural self, again that doesn't mean you're not sexy. Having said that I've always considered you one of the children's presenters I'd most like to see with their kit off (Naomi Wilkinson from Five's Milkshake is another). There is nothing to stop you from going ahead and doing it for yourself and posting the photos on your own website if you wanted to. If you decide you want to, I'd like to volunteer my services to do the job. In a tasteful, not tacky way, of course. Whatever you decide to do, you'll succeed that's for sure.

Hi Kirsten I just had to let you know that the Documentary you made for BBC3 was Great and very watchable, After watching it I just had to try to find you on the Web to let you know you that I feel you made the right choice about going down the stand up route. I really hope we see you more of you on the telly with so many channels now I'm sure the BBC or SKY must be able to find something for you to do.. I was thinking you would be perfect if they brought back Treasure Hunt from the 80's ( you know the one where Miss A Rice used to jump in and out of a Chopper and all you every really got to see most of the time was her Bum ;o) Did you know she was voted Rear of the Year for that? I know I would be the first in line to watch you in a re-make of that programme...And I'm sure so would Millions more... Anyhow Great Doc and keep up the good work..

I was gripped by your documentary -well done! Cards on the table, I always enjoyed watching you on SMart, and not necessarily for the art tips, but was both pleased and relieved you chose not to go down the lads mag route. For all that was said, I'm sure you are a role model for girls, and huge credit for showing there's more than one route for attractive women to get attention in the world of the media;(I was surprised and disappointed by AB's opinion). Best of luck with all your future projects. Oh, and FHM bloke? Doesn't know general male opinion as well as he thinks!

must admit not the kind of programme i watch, but the more i watched it the more interested i was, and by the end was rooting for you not to go down the lads mags route, so many girls do that and it was refreshing to see a beautiful young girl choose to use her actual talent in the end, also i didnt realise you were 36, i thought you were lot longer than that, good job on the show im sure your career will go from strength to strength

Hi Kirsten,i just watched your documentary, and i wanted to say how good it was,not only interesting, but it also gave an insite into what you are like away from childrens telly.i think you made the right choice, you didnt seem keen on the idea and i dont think you need to do it anyway.Dont worry about any of the comments made about you on the show, you are luckier then so many women, you are funny, intelegent, and sexy.Best wishes for your career, take care.

Kirsten, you really made an impression on me with the fantastically positive attitude which you held throughout the programme. I completely agree that not posing for the 'lads mags' was the right decision for you; with your infectious personality it's not something which you need to help shift the focus of your career. As a 24 year-old guy, I always have far more appreciation and respect for women with the kind of naturally attractive personality and features which you are blessed with, rather than the souped-up, over-stylised types that seem to elbow their way into the public's eye. I really hope that your decision to concentrate more on your stand-up pays dividends: you deserve all the success that comes your way.

I just watched your doc on iplayer with my husband. We're big fans of yours and have loved watching you on TV, even before we had kids! It seems to me that the women who have done the photo shoots didn't have much talent and need to use their bodies as their "talent". It's great seeing someone so intelligent and funny and interesting on TV. You'd be a great Louis Theroux type presenter. I'm so glad you didn't give into the pressure to get your kit off for the cameras and that you cared about the impact it might have on young girls that look up to you. We look forward to seeing more of you on TV, whatever you do you will do well and with integrity. We wish you all the best with your career.

Kirsten I just watched the documentary on iPlayer and as a 17 year old girl I was really inspired by you and your honesty. I would love to see you on Mock the Week and i think you made the right decision not stripping to make it big. I watched you on smart and your talent speaks for itself! Good luck with whatever you do next!

That twat from FHM was not just rude, he was also completely wrong. You're absolutely gorgeous, Kirsten - and much closer to Cameron Diaz than he is to Johnny Depp! Too bad you didn't do the shoot for this (or any other) mag. :-(

Kirsten,
I just watched your documentary and I was very moved by your honesty. When you were crying I just wanted to give you such a big hug! *hugs* I watched you as a kid on tv - I loved SMart; I always used to try out the ideas on the show. I am so proud of you for realising that women do not need to strip off in order to be popular; it's a real testament to feminism! You go girl! Keep up the good work, keep smiling. I think people like you a lot for being funny; I think you're great as you're a lot like me - funny and arty and that's what makes you so much more human than the fake plastic girls that adorn FHM. You are a real role model for real women, and comedy is certainly where you should be.
Best of Luck
